The PCD Series Digital Dual Valve Pressure Controllers are designed for applications that require a precise pressure control device with easy to integrate features. The pressure controllers provide an RS-232 and 0- 5Vdc output of the pressure signal as a standard feature, with alternate signals available. Our standard digital pressure gauge electronics are integrated with two proportional control valves (a feed valve and an exhaust valve). The standard configuration is for operation into dead- ended processes. A vacuum may be used on the exhaust line to speed the reduction of pressures in applications requiring rapid pressure changes. The dual valve pressure controller is designed to work in a host of environments. From semiconductor manufacturing to laboratory the dual valve pressure controller is a robust, cost-effective solution. |

How it Works |
|
An algorithm optimized for pressure control was developed over the course of 2 years of intensive research. The proportional feed valve opens to allow gas flow into the closed process. As the line pressure increases the drive to the feed valve is decreased until the setpoint is reached, allowing for the minimization of overshooting. The exhaust valve opens to reduce pressure by allowing gas flow out of the process. The drive to the exhaust valve is decreased as the setpoint is reached, allowing for the minimization of undershooting the setpoint.
This controller utilizes a modified PID closed loop control and proportional control valves on both the feed and the exhaust lines. Unlike controllers that use simple pressure switches and on/off valves, there is no built in dead-band. This leads to impressive increases in precision control of the process pressure in closed or nearly closed systems. The PCD Series uses only one valve at a time, automatically switching the PID control to the required valve, thus minimizing the exhausting of gases to maintain the set pressure. Especially in expensive bottled gas systems, this reduction in gas usage translates directly into significant cost savings. |

Pressure Controller Applications |

The dual valve pressure controller is ideal for dead ended applications that require precise pressure control. For example, pressure loading fluid dispensers for manufacturing processes in paint and semiconductor industries or processes that require precise application of forces for pressure controlled actuation. In addition, as all the feed and exhaust valve adjustments are done internally, higher-level resources in the user's DCS or the PLC can be utilized for other functions, with the actual line pressure data available for data logging and maintenance reports. |
