FRI-302 Fieldbus Relay and Dry Contact Input

FRI302 is a Foundation™ fieldbus device with two built-in relays and two dry contact inputs. It makes the integration of fieldbus and conventional devices such as solenoids, on/off valves, electrical actuators, motors, pumps and soft starters, easier. FRI302 fieldbus can be field installed close to the conventional input/output devices without the need to run long conventional wiring to the control room. The FRI302 is an integral part of SYSTEM302 and can also be integrated with any control systems supporting FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus technology.

An extensive function block library enables FRI302 to perform logic and regulatory control functions at the field level, compounding larger control strategies with other H1 fieldbus devices and the host control system. Instantiable function blocks provide great flexibility to the control strategies. Link master capability allows FRI302 to work as backup LAS for greater availability to the H1 network communications.

Use case:

A very interesting application is the FRI302 to be used as interface of electrical actuators. Any electrical actuator, including Smar AD/AR/AL series becomes a fieldbus actuator, making FRI302 the perfect solution for the revamp of industrial plants. The PID Step function block is ideal in these cases once it can modulate the valve without the actual position feedback.
