AS-Interface- 'ASI Bus'
AS-Interface (ASI bus) is a simple bus system that connects intelligent sensors using a mechanically-keyed 2 wire cable. This cable is responsible for transmitting control and device data, powering the devices, configuring the system architecture and monitoring the network. In many installations, ASI bus can replace more complex systems and drastically simplify wiring and diagnostics. AS-Interface is also universal, with devices from different manufacturers being 100% compatible with one another.

Accessories
Pepperl+Fuchs also offers a wide variety of AS-Interface (ASI bus) accessories, ranging from hand-held addressing devices to mounting bases to simulators for higher-level bus systems such as PROFIBUS-DP. Genuine Pepperl+Fuchs AS-Interface (ASI bus) accessories maintain system performance and give you the flexibility to make AS-Interface (ASI bus) work in any application.

Cordsets
Pepperl+Fuchs carries a complete line of high-quality cordsets to integrate your AS-Interface (ASI bus) system with most intelligent automation devices used with AS-Interface (ASI bus) applications. Both Micro (12mm) and Pico/Nano (8mm) cordsets are available, along with splitters, connectors and receptacles to make wiring easy. And because they are from Pepperl+Fuchs, you know that they will work perfectly, every time.

Intelligent Photoelectric Sensors Detecting a failed sensor is often difficult and can cause long periods of equipment downtime in conventionally wired systems. In an AS-Interface (ASI bus) system, integrated chips provide sensors with their own "intelligence" and expand their functionality. "Intelligent" sensors are self-monitoring, programmable and multiple sensors can communicate their data over a single two conductor cable.

Intelligent Inductive Sensors Detecting a failed sensor is often difficult and can cause long periods of equipment downtime in conventionally wired systems. "Intelligent" sensors are self-monitoring, programmable and multiple sensors can communicate their data over a single two conductor cable.

IO Modules I/O Modules are the interface between standard sensors and actuators and AS-Interface (ASI bus). Pepperl+Fuchs offers field-mountable I/O modules for any application, including Flat Modules for limited space applications, Compact Modules for a variety of mounting options, Field Modules that use cord grips instead of quick disconnects, Standard Modules that use both the mechanically-keyed AS-Interface (ASI bus) cable and standard 16 AWG round cable. For enclosures and junction boxes, Pepperl+Fuchs offers Enclosure Modules to connect ASI bus to a Pepperl+Fuchs power rail system, and Junction Box Modules for use within junction boxes.

Masters & Gateways AS-Interface (ASI bus) masters/gateways are the core of the wiring system. Both masters and gateways connect AS-Interface to upper level controllers such as PLCs, PCs or high-level bus systems such as PROFIBUS-DP or DeviceNet. Masters and gateways handle the complete data transfer, cyclically polling (master/slave) all participants connected to the wiring system. The AS-Interface master/gateway can be placed anywhere in the AS-Interface segment. One master/gateway can handle 124 inputs and 124 outputs over 31 addressable I/O modules. No configuration software is required for AS-Interface because the system can be managed and maintained using the two push buttons on the front of the master. For direct PLC masters and gateways, setup is accomplished through the setup tools for the respective system.

Power Supplies & Repeaters With AS-Interface (ASI bus), one single cable transmits both power and data. Pepperl+Fuchs Power Supplies contain internal data separation coils so that the capacitive filtering of the supply does not interfere with the data stream. Adding to the high interference immunity of AS-Interface is the power supply data isolation coil between the voltage transformer and the output so that the data signals are isolated from line noise. Repeaters extend AS-Interface networks up to 100 additional meters, and by using two in series, an AS-Interface network can be up to 300 meters long. Repeaters do not require a network address, and allow I/O modules to be placed anywhere along the network.

Safety at Work This extension of AS-Interface (ASI bus) allows for safety equipment to be wired together on a 2 wire cable rather then hardwired back to a panel. A maximum of 31 Category 4 Inputs, ex. E-Stops, can be put on one cable. The parts included in this section are safety slaves, safety monitor, and configuration software.

Valve Position and Pneumatic Modules Valve position can now be determined with the Sensors and the AS-Interface (ASI bus) connection all in one housing. Up to 62 intelligent valve position indicators can be put on one AS-i line and then be brought back to a controller. Pneumatic modules are also available that have air connections to drive the cylinder and electronic inputs to read its position.

Encoders Pepperl+Fuchs absolute rotary encoders allow for an easy 2-wire connection to AS-Interface (ASI bus). Choose from the standard 58mm or explosion proof housing. Four nodes are used to transmit the 16 bits of data back to the ASI bus , and there is an ASI bus master available for almost any system. Single and Multi-turn versions as well as different mounting configurations are available.
