Inductive Sensors
Inductive Sensors
Inductive sensors utilize a high frequency electromagnetic field to detect metal objects. Their combination of durability, high accuracy and quick response time makes them an invaluable tool in automating processes in the food and beverage, automotive, assembly, metalforming, mobile equipment and petrochemical industries.

Please contact us for more information on a specific product subfamily in the Inductive Sensors product family.

Subfamily Description
Cylindrical & Surface Mount  Cylindrical, or "tubular" inductive sensor housings are available in barrel diameters ranging from 3mm to 40mm.
Analog Analog sensors provide a 0 to 20mA current output proportional to the proximity of a metal object. They are commonly used for high accuracy positioning, surface contour monitoring and hole diameter gauging.
Pile Driver (100% Stainless Steel)  Unlike traditional plastic-face inductive sensors, the Pepperl+Fuchs Pile Driver series offers a 100% stainless steel housing. The 0.030" thick sensing face survives the harshest industrial environments, unaffected by everyday target abrasion and accidental impact. Pile Driver sensors are offered in ferrous-selective (series FE) and nonferrous selective (series NFE) models. The Pile Driver is available in 12, 18 and 30 mm diameters, and Pepperl+Fuchs is proud to offer the world's only 8 mm diameter stainless-faced sensor.

Rhino (cube style) Versatile Rhino series inductive sensors feature a "Quick-pivot" sensing head, allowing tool-free configuration of the sensing face to any of 5 positions. Rhino models offer sensing ranges and mounting "foot-prints" identical to inductive limit switches, yet only require 1/3 the mounting space. Available Rhino versions include general purpose, weld-immune and 20/20 series (full sensing range to all metals).
Weld Resistant Automated welding processes often rely on proximity sensors for accurate positioning of metal parts. The combined presence of hot weld slag and strong magnetic fields creates an environment unsuitable for standard proximity sensors. Weld immune sensors are specifically designed for reliable operation under these conditions. Many models offer Teflon or Black Armor coatings to repel weld slag/spatter. Special coil systems and circuitry provide excellent protection from the effects of electromagnetic weld fields.
X-Series Extended Range Pepperl+Fuchs X-Series inductive sensors offer 50-100% more range than standard inductive proximity sensors. X-Series sensors are available in both shielded and unshielded models and in the Basic and Classic series of inductive sensors.
Ring Sensors Pepperl+Fuchs features a full line of inductive ring sensors, with thru-hole diameters ranging from 10mm to 150mm. Typical applications include part ejection verification (in stamping applications), wire breakage monitoring and level control (utilizing metal "floats"). Several models offer adjustable sensitivity.
Slot Style Pepperl+Fuchs inductive slot sensors are offered in slot widths ranging from 2mm to 30mm. The smallest models feature high switching frequencies, ideal for "vane monitoring" in flow meters. Larger versions provide accurate position feedback in elevator floor/carriage leveling or edge detection of sheet feeds. NAMUR models are suitable for installation in hazardous (potentially explosive) environments.
Valve Position  Pepperl+Fuchs inductive valve position sensors offer open/closed feedback for 1/4 turn valves. Dual sensing elements are enclosed in a single, low profile housing. BT series target packages provide all necessary mounting hardware, as well as the high-visibility target "puck". Sensors mounting is compatible with industry standard NAMUR hole configurations.
Inductive Archive The archive consists of items from catalogs and literature prior to 2002.
Cylinder Position Indicators Cylinder Position Indicators verify end-of-stroke in hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders. Pepperl+Fuchs cylinder position indicators are capable of operating within pressurized environments while retaining a fluid or air-tight seal. Cylinder position indicators are available with pressure ratings up to 5000 PSI.
