With our recent acquisition of Elcon Instruments, Pepperl+Fuchs dominates the three main categories of intrinsic safety barriers - isolated DIN rail mounted versions, isolated circuit board (interface) mounted designs and zener diode barriers. | Isolated Din Rail Barriers |
By far, our most popular intrinsic safety barrier is the K-System isolator. This product line consists of nearly 100 different functional designs to meet the demands of todays factory and process automation industries. K-System products are used worldwide and carry all major approval marks necessary for your application. Our wide range of accessories enhance the operation of our barriers. In fact, our PowerRail system is what makes K-System so unique. By implementing PowerRail, a group of barriers can be easily energized from an AC or DC source and be monitored for group fault conditions. This unique design allows simple expansion with no additional wires, and can be easily designed for several redundant power configurations. In addition to K-System, we also offer the versatile uD product. This DIN rail mounted intrinsic safety isolator has many great features that sets it apart in the process market. Plus, it is backed by Pepperl+Fuchs worldwide support network. |
| Isolated Backplane Barriers |
The HiD2000 is our line of backplane mounted isolated barriers. This innovative product combines isolated intrinsic safety barriers and custom circuit board assemblies into a cost effective project based solution. The circuit board assembly is designed for both standard and customer specific applications. The interface circuit boards are equipped with connectors and circuitry intended to replicate the same hardware used in a fully engineered solution for a Distributed Control System (DCS). In addition to custom DCS solutions, the HiD2000 series of products has solutions that can simplify cabinet design. Features such as quick disconnect links, patented cross-wiring and redundant power connections add to the list of benefits supporting this technology solution. The backplane mounted isolators used in the HiD2000 product range are high density modules in either dual or quad channel configurations. Certifications for worldwide use complete the product line. |
| Zener Diode Barriers |
Zener diode barriers are the most economical hardware method available to solve a hazardous area barrier/intrinsic safety application. Pepperl+Fuchs SafeSnap and SafeSnapPlus zener barriers account for a product range of nearly 50 different versions. Housed within an encapsulated housing and suitable for DIN rail mounting, these zener barriers are ideal for both AC and DC applications. Our SafeSnapPlus line features a removable fuse network. The mounting clamp on the base of the product allows the critical ground connection necessary for proper operation as soon as a barrier is attached to the DIN rail. Our Pepperl+Fuchs Elcon uZ range of zener diode barriers is a specialty product packed with features inside a low profile/narrow width housing. They are perfect for space critical applications. Plus, uZ comes with many of the great features found in our full line SafeSnap product. Our high current zener barriers solve applications requiring up to 500mA of hazardous area current. |
